Costa Calida ( warm coast) is in the south east of Spain and is an interesting , exciting coast with stunning scenery from mountains that reach down to the sea and long stretches of lazy clean sandy beaches.
It has an ideal climate of mild winters and hot but not unbearable summers. Therefore it doesn't rain very often and rain is exceptionally rare in the summer months. It would be difficult to better this climate anywhere else in Europe as the temperature is rarely below 10'c.
The region's capital Murcia can easily be reached by car or bus from the apartment in La Manga, as can the historic town Catagena.
There are also an number of smaller resorts close by Cabo de Palos a fishing harbour and Los Belones village are very pretty and popular with tourists and very close by.
La Manga del Mar Menor is a superb Mediterranean location and is a strip of land 21km long. La Manga meaning 'sleeve' sits between the Med Sea an the Mar Menor (small sea) which can be likened to a large salt water lake.
The clear water of the Mar Menor are known to be rich in minerals and in certain areas therapeutic clays can be found helpful for rheumatism, arthritis and skin complaints. Join the Spanish covering themselves in clay and baking in the sun , before rinsing off in the Menor!
The La Manga Strip does not have a centre as such instead there are many small commercial areas, hotels, villas and nightspots fronting the road. The buildings are hiding miles of beautiful beaches and cafe' beach bars and marinas
The apartments La Manga del Mar Menor can be reached from Murcia San Javier (MJV) and Alicante El Altet (ALC) Airports. Car rental and taxis are available at both airports. The drive to La Manga takes 45 minutes from Murcia and 90 minutes from Alicante Airports.
The historic cities of Cartagena (30 mins away) and Murcia (60 mins drive) are well worth visiting for sightseeing and high class shopping. Cartagena is full of historic architecture, has many museums, and a historic marina with tourist trips around the Port.
Inland from the strip is the world renowned La Manga Golf Club which is home to a 5 star hotel, casino, bars and restaurants alongside three championship golf courses
