Set in 25 Acres of Garden and grounds of the Domain de Villechaise with an 8 metre diameter swimming pool with lawns and centuries old trees, to the hills and beyond.  There is a Barbecue area with table and chairs for eating and relaxing.

Many seating areas around the grounds and sun loungers alongside the pool, you can always find an idyllic spot in sun or shade to spend a lazy afternoon.

For the more energetic there is a riding school nearby, tennis courts and canoeing on the Vienne and a lovely uncrowded golf course 15 minutes away.

The Charente is an area of France with as many hours of sunshine as the Cote d'Azur - but none of the problems.

An unspoilt, uncrowded region, lazily criss-crossed by wide clear waters of the Charente and Vienne, with rolling pastures and hillside dotted with woodland.

Unlike a lots of areas in France and because of the gentle nature of the countryside, there are hundreds of 'petite randonee' (rambles), following history studded paths and deserted river banks.

The wildlife is abundant - Nightingales sing with Nightjars in the evenings - Red squirrels run across the lawns.  Buzzards fly overhead and you may even see a Vulture!

Confolens is about 3 kms from Villechaise situated on the Vienne river.  It is a beautiful town straddling both sides of the Vienne, best known for its festival of folklore and music which is usually held the second week in August.

It has some impressive range of administrative building totally out of keeping with its size as a town.  These together with the commercial premises and houses go right up to the river banks on both sides of the river.

In the town itself you find the following Services and Shops:

Banks (Credit Agricole, Credit Mutuelle, etc.) - Supermarket (Intermarche, Casino) = Pharmacies - Garages (Citreon, Renault) - Hospital - Post Office - Market hall - Cinema - Hotels & Restaurants (Emmeraude, Mere Michelet, etc.) - Lots of smaller shops (photographic, presents, food, bakers, cakes, porcelain, etc.)  There is also a bicycle shop where you can hire bikes.

The town prides itself on its walks and has many leaflets about local walks and things of interest.
