Description
of Accommodation
If you are looking for that "immaculate"
place - then this is not the place for you . . If,
on the other hand , you are looking to travel back
in time . . roam around the 50 or so hectares,
relax in complete privacy, lounge by the pool,
play tennis, have your own competition of boules,
sit out in the evening under the lime trees and
watch the beautiful sunset , then . . this IS the
place for you, your family and friends!
If you are interested in coming for a week or even
for a long week-end ( Ryan Air now fly here daily
from Standsted).
The Chartreuse accommodates 13 people.
There are 6 spacious bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a
large kitchen, sitting room, a wood panelled
dining room and a large "parlour". Most
of the walls are lined with "tissue"
(cloth).
Apart from the master bedroom, the accommodation
is all on the ground floor and would be suitable
for wheelchair access.
The accommodation comprises:
3 double rooms (one has an additional single bed),
1 bedroom with 3 single beds, a twin bedroom and a
single bedroom.
4 bathrooms. (3 with bath, 1 with shower).
Fully equipped kitchen with 2 fridges, a freezer,
microwave, dishwasher, large oven with 5 ring hob
and a utility room with washing machine and dryer.
La Fourtonie benefits from full central heating.
There are also 4 open fires.
There is a telephone, TV/video recorder and indoor
table-tennis table. Linen and towels are provided.
A cot is available and baby sitting services
available by "trained" resident

Outside
There is a beautiful courtyard with lime trees and
plenty of space to sit, sip your wine and enjoy
the magnificent views over the valley well into
the evening.
There is a large 14 x 6 meter swimming pool and
tennis court with full garden furniture and a BBQ.

Description
of Area
La Fourtonie, an 18th Century Chatreuse, is situated
10 mins north of Bergerac in the Dordogne.
It occupies an envious and secluded position on a hill
top benefiting from complete privacy.
Lembras,
the local village, provides the basic necessities
(croissants and bread). There are numerous local
restaurants.
In Bergerac you will find all the facilities required
whilst on holiday: Banks, hypermarkets as well as the
traditional open markets selling the local produce.
For the more active, play golf (at Château des
Vigiers, Castelnaud and at Château les Merles), go
horse-riding (at Manoir de Grand Vignoble),
paragliding, canoeing on the Dordogne or go flying,
ULM or parachute jumping from Bergerac airport.
Bicycle hire may also be arranged.

Places of Interest
You are ideally placed to visit the famous local
vineyards (such as Monbazillac and St Emilion),
prehistoric caves of Peche-Merle, Les Eyzies and
Lascaux, spectacular Rocamadour and many historic châteaux,
castles and medieval towns - Sarlat, Monpazier and
Monflanquin of the Dordogne.
The whole area is rich in history, full of fascinating
places to discover and visit, yet still a peaceful
farming community producing fruit and vegetables,
wines and cheeses, as well as other gastronomic
specialities such as foie gras.
