Description of Area in & around La Manga
The Mar Menor is the worlds largest salt water lagoon and its crystal clear shallow waters make it ideal for watersports and for children to swim and play. The area is yet undiscovered by the masses making it a relaxing place to holiday, yet with plenty to do in the area if you wish. The towns of Cartagena and Murcia are a short drive away
The region boasts 320 days of sunshine per year and average temperatures of 17 degrees in the winter and 27 degrees in the summer months. The la Manga strip is a unique feature in Europe, 21 km of land with sandy beaches and sea on both sides. You are never more than a few metres from the sea and it is difficult to imagine a more idyllic place for lovers of water sports, marinas and beaches. Because of the large expanse of coastline the beaches (including many Blueflag) never get over populated even in the height of summer. This is a unique location in Europe because where else could you see the sunrise over one sea (the Mediterranean) and set over another sea (the Marmenor).
