Description of Villa

River Mist is a beautiful Jamaican home set on 5 acres of private grounds high above Montego Bay.
The property is absolutely exquisite and offers a relaxing vacation with magnificent views of the Caribbean Sea, and nearby Montego Bay. The owners of River Mist have recently renovated the villa and have captured the feel of ‘old’ Jamaica by their use of antiques, art, and architecture. River Mist is a perfect tropical retreat.
Living Room
The very spacious and stylish living room is arranged on cool stone floors under a Jamaican style vaulted ceiling and is enhanced with Jamaican antique furniture and Caribbean art. The living room offers crisp white fabrics and cut stone walls.
The stereo/ CD player are found in the armoire. French style doors retract on two sides to a wide verandah and open the view to the Caribbean Sea and garden. The view is also spectacular at night showing the lights of Montego Bay.
Verandah
To the north the wide verandah offers traditional wicker furniture and a card/games table overlooking the pool and the Caribbean Sea beyond. To the west the verandah offers a dining area where you can enjoy the garden view as well as the Caribbean Sea.
For those with children the verandah area allows you to keep tabs on the little ones while they swim in the pool or swing by the slide set.
Pool & Garden
A traditional Jamaican two sided staircase descends a few feet to the pool deck and garden. The pool is complimented by a gazebo which offers a wet bar and seating area out of the sun. The pool deck itself offers a seating area and lounge chairs to soak up all that wonderful Jamaican sun.
At night this area can be turned into an intimate dining area under the stars. The garden at river mist is simply beautiful. Palm trees and tropical flowers abound and depending on the season there may be okra, papayas, oranges, corn, avocado pears, limes, tomatoes, string beans, and even sugar cane to sample. River Mist also has a Cliffside meditation/yoga pavilion on the quiet mountainside. For the children the villa offers a trampoline, slide set, and swing on the sloping lawns and hammocks are available for everyone’s enjoyment.
Kitchen
The villas spacious stainless steel kitchen includes a six burner gas stove, Weber gas bar-b-q, microwave, and full pantry. The kitchen has access to both the verandah and living room for convenience.
TV / Games Room
There is a very comfortable TV/games room that opens to both the living room and the verandah. It has a cut stone wall behind the TV, a lovely view of the Caribbean Sea and wooden floors. This room offers a large TV with cable access and a VCR player as well as a multitude of games to play, movies for children, binoculars and a telescope. There is also a desk for work or games, a fax machine, and internet access.
Bedrooms
River Mist has 3 air-conditioned bedrooms with wooden floors. The rooms are simply furnished with Jamaican antiques and all enjoy a view of the Caribbean Sea. Each bedroom comes complete with an en suite bathroom that also has a view of the Caribbean Sea. Bedroom 1 offers a king size 4-poster bed, armoire with cane paneling housing a TV with cable access and DVD player, dressing table and stool, bench, writing desk, rocking chairs, book shelf unit, bedside tables, ceiling fan, and walk in closet. The bathroom offers a walk in shower.
Bedroom 2 offers two single 4-poster beds, dressing table/writing desk with stool, book shelf unit, two trunks, bedside table, children’s chairs and a walk in closet. The bathroom offers a large bath with hand held shower. Bedroom 3 offers a queen size 4-poster bed, writing desk and chair, armoire with closet and drawers, bedside tables and a piano stool. The bathroom offers a large bath with shower.
