Description of Area in & around La Manga
The apartment is situated on the Costa Calida which is south east Spain, at the northern end of La Manga strip, overlooking the Marina. With the Mediterranean sea on one side and the Mar Menor on the other, you are just a few minutes walk from either beach. The Mar Menor has warm shallow waters ideal for children and there are endless beaches up and down the strip.
The Mar Menor averages water temperatures of around 30c in the summer so it is ideal for all types of water sports including scuba diving, water skiing, sailing and many more.
The Mar Menor is also famous for The Black Mud which is said to help treat the symptoms of rheumatism, arthritis and many other ailments.
The apartment is situated on the Los Miradores Del Puerto complex and has a large communal swimming pool and tennis court.
The apartment is close to a shops and restaurants and there are regular buses up and down the strip at incredibly low fares if you prefer a wider selection to choose from.
This region of Spain enjoys and average of 320 days of sunshine each year and because its one of the driest regions of Spain it makes a great spot for holidays in both winter and summer.
Available just a short car ride away are horseriding facilities, a full sized go-kart track and roller skating.
This area is also host to the famous La Manga Club which boasts championship golf courses, tennis courts, spa facilities and many other activities.
Whether you are looking for a romantic break or family holiday, you can do as much as little as you want as there is something for all ages.
La Manga is a strip of land 22kms long which is placed between two seas, the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor (the Little Sea). The Mar Menor is a large lake of warm salt water which is famous for its therapeutic properties.
It has an average depth of 1.7m which makes it ideal for various water sports. The depth around the shore is only 0.5m and this along with the warm water temperatures makes La Manga the perfect place for children to safely enjoy the beach.
The area is relatively flat making it ideal for walking or cycling.
Description of the Town and Local Activities:
There is a sailing school just 15 minutes walking distance from the apartment offering a good variety of water sports. From novice to the experienced they cater for all.
Close by is the black mud from the Mar Menor which is believed to help relieve the pain of rheumatism, arthritis and many other ailments.
There are various boat trips leaving from the port daily. They will take you around the vast coast of the Mar Menor allowing you to sea the various villages on route.
Scuba diving has become more popular in this area and there are schools in La Manga and Cabo de Palos which organise daily trips by boat and offering equipment to rent for newcomers.
Also in the La Manga area are tennis clubs with courts open to the public all year round, plus a roller skating rink and a full size go-kart track. The road which runs through La Manga has been built to offer the cyclist the safety of a cycle-lane and because there are hardly any hills on the strip, its ideal for cycling.
There is a 9 hole golf course towards the end of the strip and La Manga Club is not far away if you wish to play golf on their championship courses.
La Manga Club also offers a vast range of other activities and has superb spa facilities which are open to the public all year round.
