Description of Area in & around Mollymook
Mollymook, Ulladulla, Sydney, NSW, Australia
Mollymook beach is one of the south coasts most famous and best loved beaches which is long beach with ample room for body-surfers, board-riders and fishers to all occupy their own areas of the beach. The southern end of the beach is home to the Mollymook Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse and its members patrol the beach during the summer season. This end of the beach is neighboured by Mollymooks beachside 9 hole golf course.
The Beach also often hosts State and National surf lifesaving carnivals. The colour and spectacle of these events are fantastic to witness. They also host international Beach Volleyball, another popular spectators activity.
Ideal place to picnic and enjoy the grassy reserves along Mollymook Beach.
In the reserve, around the Mollymook Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse is a popular children's playground and a public outdoor exercise facility with equipment and instructions for strengthening and stretching exercises.
Further north is another reserve. This one overlooking the middle of the beach locally known as the reef. Beach access is found here for beachcombers and surfers.
Another great swimming location is the far northern end of Mollymook Beach and you can continue north around the rocks to Bannister Head where there is a favourite spot for divers in the know.
Mollymook Bay is home to a pod of bottlenose dolphins who have been known to stop at the beach to catch a wave - a magnificent surfing demonstration that you will never forget!
Whales are often spotted during the migration seasons as they make their way up the east coast to warm winter waters to have their young. On their way south again, you can sometimes see the new mothers teaching their calves essential survival skills. Fish abound in the bay and beach and boat fishing are both popular.
One of Mollymook best natural features is the Bogey Hole, a large circular rock pool located on Mollymook Headland. The Bogey Hole is a tidal pool and is very shallow at low tide. Its protective ring of rocks ensures a safe and fun environment for children and adults of all ages. Hours of entertainment can also be enjoyed whilst exploring its surrounding rock platform. For those who can swim, and only during high tide, try launching from popular Dive Rock. The safe shallow waters of the Bogey Hole make it an ideal location for families with young children and for those people who prefer a calm spot for a dip. It also offers safe snorkeling and is a great spot for a picnic day out.
Mollymook boasts not one but two scenic golf courses. Mollymook Golf Clubs picturesque 9-hole Beachside Course has superb sea views from the course, clubhouse and restaurant. The Clubhouse conducts a very full entertainment calendar. The 18-hole championship Hilltop Course is located in Maisie Williams Memorial Drive at the back of Mollymook. Visitors are welcome at both courses. Airport
