Description of Area in & around La Manga
La Manga
La Manga del Mar Menor is the small town at the southernmost end of La Manga Strip, a 19km long strip of sand which separates the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean Sea. The area is particularly popular with vacationers as it has miles of beautiful sandy beaches along both the shoreline of the Mar Menor and along the Mediterranean coastline. Those staying on La Manga Strip have a choice of beaches on either side of the resort, as the Strip is only 100 metres wide on average.
It is lined with resorts, shops, bars and restaurants providing everything visitors could want for a relaxing beach holiday in the sunshine. After dark the Strip is known for its lively nightlife, bars and entertainment.
The Mar Menor has shallow waters which are warm and have a high salt content. It is ideal for families to swim and play safely. There are many sailing clubs and watersports centres along the shoreline and diving and snorkeling can also be enjoyed along with windsurfing, jet skiing, sailing and kitesurfing.
Close to La Manga del Mar Menor is La Manga Club, a luxury resort which incorporates many condos and holiday homes around its three fine championship golf courses. It also has a tennis academy and a football academy which is used by international football teams for training. The luxury spa and the many restaurants are all open to visitors staying in the area.
